The Respondent successfully filed a suit against the
Appellant Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) claiming compensation of Tshs.
90,000,000/= for brutal assault, unlawful confinement and bodily injury
inflicted on Respondent. Being aggrieved by the decision of the trial court, the
Respondent filed in the High Court challenging the decision of the trial
Magistrate. However, after the hearing and before the court could dispose of
the appeal, TBL brought an application requesting to be joined as the
Appellant. This court was therefore left to decide on, inter alia, the
practicability and legality of joining TBL as Co-Appellant and whether the
Quantum of damages awarded to the Respondent was proper.
